The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has announced that the 5th annual Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulatory Conference (PAO NDCRC) will focus on improving content quality and exploring new funding opportunities for Nollywood.
Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director and CEO of NFVCB, said the conference will be held from November 18 to 19 at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, under the theme: “From Volume to Value: Future of Nollywood in the Digital Age.”
The two-day event will gather filmmakers, technology experts, investors, and regulatory authorities to develop strategies aimed at strengthening Nollywood in the digital era. Husseini explained that the conference will shift the industry’s focus from mere output quantity to higher-quality productions while also exploring alternative financing models such as crowdfunding.
“We want stakeholders to examine what we are not doing well and explore the range of funding opportunities beyond grants and loans,” he said.
The conference will also address the deployment of modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), in film production, as well as the creation of compelling scripts and storylines that can improve sustainability and content quality in digital filmmaking.
“One of the exciting aspects is seeing how AI is being integrated into some productions. We aim to evaluate both the opportunities and challenges that come with it,” Husseini noted.
Additionally, the conference will include recognition awards for Nollywood veterans who have made significant contributions to the growth of the industry.
Named in honor of the late AMAA founder Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the PAO NDCRC serves as a platform for discussions on content regulation, industry development, and the future of digital filmmaking in Nigeria. NFVCB remains the government body responsible for classifying films, registering cinemas, and regulating the video and film sector nationwide.
