Anambra Police Deploy Safe School Operatives Ahead of 2026 UTME

The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up security arrangements by deploying about 60 Safe School Operatives to various examination centres ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The examination is expected to run nationwide from April 16 to April 26.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement issued on Tuesday in Awka that the deployment was designed to strengthen safety, order, and protection at all participating centres.

He explained that the operatives, drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, are positioned across the eight Police Area Commands in the state, with coordination handled by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Harrison Oruruo.

According to him, the measure is part of the Safe School Initiative aimed at protecting candidates, examination officials, and invigilators, while also discouraging malpractice and preventing any form of security breach during the exercise.

He added that the command remains committed to ensuring a safe environment throughout the examination period, while urging students and examination officials to adhere strictly to rules and work in harmony with deployed security personnel.
