China’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday rejected U.S. allegations that it has conducted nuclear explosive tests, describing the claims as “entirely unfounded.”
Speaking at a regular press briefing, spokesperson Lin Jian said that the U.S. is fabricating excuses to justify its own nuclear activities. He accused Washington of distorting and smearing China’s nuclear policy for political purposes.
Lin further argued that the U.S. seeks nuclear hegemony while avoiding its own disarmament responsibilities, making it “the biggest source of disruption to both the international nuclear order and global strategic stability.”
He also criticised the U.S. for allowing the New START Treaty to expire without renewal, claiming that the move undermines trust among major powers and threatens global stability.
“China firmly opposes this,” Lin added, reiterating Beijing’s stance against U.S. political manipulation in nuclear matters.
