Arik Air has confirmed that flight W3 740 from Lagos to Port Harcourt was diverted to Benin Airport as a precautionary measure after an unusual sound was detected from the aircraft’s left engine.
In a statement on Wednesday, Arik Air’s Public Relations and Communications Manager, Mr. Adebanji Ola, said all 80 passengers disembarked safely and no injuries were recorded.
“The operating crew of the Boeing 737-700 (5N MJF) heard a loud sound on the left engine as it descended to land in Port Harcourt. Arrangements have been made to transport the affected passengers to their final destinations,” the statement read.
The airline apologised for the disruption, emphasizing that passenger safety and well-being remain its top priority.
