Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to cooperating with the Nigeria Police to maintain peace and security across the state. The announcement was made through a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, on Wednesday.
Bature said the governor made the statement during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Bakori, aimed at enhancing the relationship between the state government and the police command. Governor Yusuf noted that insecurity was a significant challenge when he assumed office, but the situation has improved under Bakori’s leadership. He stressed that Kano belongs to all residents and that political differences should not undermine security.
The governor assured the police command of both moral and institutional support, commending their efforts in maintaining peace. In response, CP Bakori described the visit as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment and credited Yusuf’s guidance for the command’s successes. He also reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to collaborating with the state government to ensure sustained security.
During the visit, the CP paraded three suspects allegedly involved in the recent killing of a mother and her children in Dorayi-Chiranci Quarters of Kano metropolis.
