Matriculation: FUHSI Vice-Chancellor Calls for Decency and Ethical Conduct

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences (FUHSI), Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, has urged newly admitted students to uphold high moral standards and maintain discipline throughout their academic journey.

Lasisi made the remarks during the 4th matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session on Thursday at the university campus in Ila-Orangun.

“This administration will not only challenge you to excel academically but will also nurture the character expected of future health professionals. You are encouraged to be diligent in your studies and to uphold integrity at all times, as acts of immorality, indecency, or indiscipline will not be tolerated,” he said.

He noted that out of 4,625 applicants, only 1,225 candidates were admitted into the university for the current academic session.

Of the admitted students, 856 are females and 369 are males, reflecting a female-dominant pattern across most programs.

“I congratulate you and your families on this achievement. Your performance in the UTME, school certificate examinations, and the university’s post-UTME screening demonstrates a strong educational foundation and readiness for further training in your chosen fields,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that the university is currently undergoing significant growth and transformation. Services have commenced at the University Teaching Hospital, signaling the institution’s preparedness to train competent health personnel for both local and global needs.

He further noted that the National Universities Commission (NUC) accredited nine programmes last year and that accreditation visits from all relevant professional councils have been completed or are forthcoming.

“All these efforts aim to provide a strong foundation for your academic and professional development. I encourage you to embrace personal growth and transformation to make a meaningful impact during your time at FUHSI,” Lasisi added.
