The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Michał Cygan, has praised Nigeria for its role as a stabilising force in West Africa, highlighting the contributions of the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly the Air Force, in counter-insurgency and regional security operations.

Cygan made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He lauded the professionalism and resilience of the Nigerian military, noting that its strategic engagements play a critical role in maintaining peace and stability across the sub-region.

The ambassador also expressed Poland’s interest in deepening defence cooperation with Nigeria, focusing on practical initiatives that strengthen counter-insurgency capabilities and capacity development.

In response, CAS Aneke emphasised the value of international partnerships in addressing modern and asymmetric security challenges.

He added that the Nigerian Air Force remains open to collaborations that enhance operational effectiveness, training, and information sharing.

Discussions during the visit centred on defence diplomacy and strategies to expand cooperation in support of the Air Force’s ongoing operations nationwide.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral defence ties and explore avenues for continued collaboration in regional security efforts.
