Man Charged for Allegedly Poisoning Cow in Ibadan

A 66-year-old man, Tirimisiyu Lamidi, appeared in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Monday for allegedly poisoning a cow belonging to another person.

Lamidi, whose address was not provided, was charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and cruelty. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang, told the court that the offence occurred on November 30, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m. in Atoda village, Ido, Ibadan. According to the prosecution, Lamidi allegedly injected a poisonous substance into the cow’s feed, causing the death of a female cow valued at N2 million, belonging to Muhammed Isiaka.

The offences are said to contravene Sections 249(d) and 495(f) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Moyosore Atanda, granted Lamidi bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until February 5 for hearing.
