The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued four abducted children and successfully reunited them with their families following an intelligence-driven operation.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lafia on Tuesday.
According to Nansel, the rescue operation was triggered by a report received on December 31, 2025, at the New Nyanya Police Division in Karu Local Government Area, concerning the suspicious disappearance of the children.
He said the police immediately commenced a discreet investigation after receiving the report, working closely with operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
Acting on credible intelligence, detectives traced the suspects to their hideout, where the children were recovered unharmed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly abducted by a 28-year-old suspect, Abraham Asoje, in collaboration with one Joy Bolaje, aged 29, both residents of Ado Junction in the local government area. The suspects were said to have kept the children in confinement before police intervention.
Nansel confirmed that the rescued children have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects who are currently at large.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Mohammed, as commending the operatives for their professionalism, swift response and dedication during the operation.
The commissioner also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, with particular emphasis on the safety of children and other vulnerable persons.
The police further advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant and ensure proper supervision of their children, urging members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.Tools
