Journalist Urges NAWOJ to Promote Gender-Based Programmes in Bauchi

The Acting Managing Director of the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV), Mrs Fibi Kafi, has called on women journalists to collaborate in developing programmes focused on the welfare of women and children.

Kafi made the appeal during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to the BATV headquarters in Bauchi on Tuesday.

She encouraged women journalists to remain dedicated and consistent in their professional duties, noting that hard work, productivity and excellence are essential for attaining leadership and managerial roles in the media industry.

According to her, greater involvement of women journalists in content creation would lead to programmes that better address the needs and concerns of women and children across the state.

“We are seeking your support in designing programmes that focus on women and children. I hope women journalists will continue to be committed, hardworking and excellent in their duties so that more women can rise to managerial positions,” she said.

Earlier, the Bauchi State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Rashida Yusuf, explained that the visit was to congratulate Kafi on her appointment as Acting Managing Director of the station.

Yusuf also called for increased participation of women in journalism and stronger representation in leadership positions within media organisations.

In her goodwill message, she appealed to the Bauchi State Government to confirm Kafi’s appointment, expressing confidence that this would enable her to contribute more effectively to the growth and development of the station.
