The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has extended royal blessings to Nigerians, calling for renewed unity as the country steps into the year 2026.
The monarch made the appeal in a New Year message issued on Friday in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Describing 2026 as a period of national awakening, Oba Ogunwusi urged Nigerians to strengthen the bonds that unite them and to embrace dialogue, compassion and brotherhood over division and conflict.
He reminded citizens that Nigeria remains one people under God and is destined for greatness despite the challenges facing the nation.
The Ooni also appealed to Nigerians in the diaspora to remain connected to their homeland by contributing their knowledge, creativity, investments and skills to national development.
According to him, collective effort is essential for building an inclusive economy that uplifts all citizens and drives sustainable growth.
Expressing optimism about the nation’s future, the monarch said unity remains the foundation for lasting progress and expanded opportunities for future generations.
He concluded by praying that 2026 would usher in peace, good health and abundant prosperity for every Nigerian household.
