The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has condemned the killing of one of its volunteer personnel, Abdurrauf A. Sheriff, who was stabbed to death by suspected hoodlums in Kano.
The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the attack occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday along Gyadi Gyadi Court Road while the volunteer officer was carrying out his lawful duties.
Describing the incident as a grievous act of violence, the NSCDC said the killing was unacceptable and would not be tolerated.
Idris-Abdullahi disclosed that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in custody, assisting security agencies with ongoing investigations to ensure justice is served.
He added that dangerous items, including a hacksaw and illicit drugs, were recovered from the suspects.
The spokesperson said the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased and reassured residents of the corps’ commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
He noted that the case, being one of culpable homicide, would be transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
Idris-Abdullahi urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
