CP Assures Adequate Security in Kogi During Festive Period

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Naziru Kankarofi, has assured residents of adequate security to ensure the safety of lives and property during the festive period.

Kankarofi gave the assurance in Lokoja on Wednesday in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP William Aya, as part of efforts to maintain law and order and guarantee a peaceful celebration.

While felicitating Christians on the Christmas season, the Commissioner of Police expressed confidence that residents would enjoy a safe and peaceful celebration across the state.

According to him, the Command has deployed additional police personnel, intensified patrols, and implemented intelligence-led operations, visibility policing, and strategic positioning of officers at worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, markets, and other public places.

“Personnel from conventional police units, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Motor Traffic Department, Safer Highway Patrol, and other tactical formations have been mobilised to maintain law and order throughout the festive period,” he said.

The Commissioner charged officers to conduct themselves professionally, remaining courteous, firm, and civil in the discharge of their duties.

He also urged residents to be law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

Kankarofi called for public cooperation in safeguarding places of worship and other public spaces, encouraging residents to report suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

“The Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue proactive policing strategies to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration,” he said.

He provided the emergency contact numbers as 07038329084 and 08152195982.
