The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on motorists to strictly obey traffic rules and regulations to curb road crashes during the festive season.
Mr Nasir Mohammed, FRSC Corridor Commander in charge of the Sagamu–Ore–Benin Expressway, made the call during an interview on Sunday.
According to him, sustained compliance with traffic regulations remains critical to saving lives and ensuring safer highways, especially during the Yuletide period when vehicular movement increases.
Mohammed advised motorists to avoid wrongful overtaking, dangerous driving and other risky behaviours that could lead to fatal accidents.
“Motorists are strongly advised to obey traffic rules, avoid overloading and sustain compliance. This remains critical to reducing mishaps and avoidable crashes.
“They should also cooperate with FRSC officers and other traffic agencies on duty to guarantee safer highways and ensure they arrive at their destinations safely,” he said.
He cautioned drivers against night travel, speeding and overloading, noting that such practices significantly increase the risk of road crashes during the festive season.
Mohammed reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety of road users and maintaining free flow of traffic throughout the festive period.
