Troops of the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto have neutralised five armed bandits and recovered weapons and motorcycles during coordinated operations across Sokoto and Zamfara states. The offensive began on Wednesday and targeted notorious bandit hideouts.
A military source said the operation struck a major blow against banditry, focusing on known criminal enclaves in Gangara, Makawana, Satiru, Baici, and Kurkusu villages within Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto. The swift advance disrupted criminal networks, forcing many to flee as soldiers asserted control over the terrain.
The operation also intensified in Batamna village, Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara, where troops encountered heavy resistance. In the ensuing exchange, five bandits were neutralised, and weapons, motorcycles, and Baofeng radios used in criminal activities were recovered.
This follows previous successes by the 8 Division, including the neutralisation of notorious bandit leaders Kachalla Kallamu and Kachalla Na’Allah in December within Sabon Birnin and Isa LGAs.
Retired Col. Ahmad Usman, Special Adviser to Gov. Ahmad Aliyu on Security Matters, and other citizens commended the Nigerian Army and security operatives for the significant progress in combating banditry in the state.
