Plateau Governor Set to Join APC Amid PDP Crisis

Gov. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), his Political Adviser, Mr Istifanus Nwansat, has disclosed.

Speaking with newsmen on Monday in Abuja, Nwansat said the governor’s decision was influenced by the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the APC as the “option with the least risk.”

He explained that Muftwang’s impending defection would align the state’s leadership with President Bola Tinubu’s political and governance trajectory.

“The crisis in the PDP has rendered the platform an unrealistic podium for political actors to contest elections,” Nwansat said.

“From our assessment and analysis of all available options, we concluded that the safest decision for us today, with the least risk, is to move into the APC. That is why the governor is taking this step,” he added.

He further noted that the governor believes it is reasonable to lead his people into alignment with President Tinubu, appreciating the president’s efforts to “put things right” despite being PDP members.
