NCC Unveils New Corporate Logo, Urges Media to Discontinue Use of Old Emblem

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) on Friday officially unveiled its new corporate logo to journalists and media practitioners.

The presentation took place in Abuja during a seminar organised by the NCC in collaboration with the Arts and Culture Writers Association of Nigeria (ACWAN).

Speaking at the event, the NCC Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ijeoma Egbunike, called on journalists to take note of the change and immediately stop using the previous logo in publications and broadcasts.

Egbunike explained that the new logo features a circular green-and-red badge with 36 radiating red spikes symbolising the 36 states of the Federation.

“Together, they form a hexagonal police star, representing the enforcement and police powers of the Commission,” she said.

She added that the six tallest spikes highlight the six major categories of copyright works — literary, musical, artistic, audiovisual works, sound recordings, and broadcasts. They also reflect the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and the nation’s widespread creative potential.

Egbunike further noted that the three flowing green-white-green blocks, with the initials ‘NCC’ embedded, depict book spines, the flow of ideas, and the dynamic nature of copyrighted works.

“The inner green circle stands for creativity and reinforces the Commission’s mandate of protecting creative works, while the outer blue circle signifies the wealth that is generated by creative activities,” she said.
