The Kaduna State Government says hosting the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW), the 63rd Annual General Meeting, and the Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will serve as a national endorsement of the state’s peace-building and development initiatives.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated this on Wednesday in Kaduna during the inauguration of planning committees for the event, scheduled for April 2026.
Maiyaki said the conference, tagged “CrocCity 2026,” would spotlight Kaduna’s community-led peace model, which he described as a central pillar of the administration’s development agenda.
He explained that the state’s approach prioritises policies and projects driven by communities and traditional institutions—an innovation he said deserved national recognition.
Maiyaki also raised concerns about recent security incidents in Niger State, noting that Kaduna’s safety is linked to that of its neighbours.
“Kaduna will only be fully secure when Niger State is secure,” he said.
According to him, Kaduna’s improved national reform rankings further demonstrate its readiness to host a major national event. He cited the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report by PEBEC, which ranked Kaduna second only to Lagos, describing the state as transparent, efficient and attractive to investors.
He added that Kaduna’s upgrade from “red” to “amber” in the UK government’s reform ratings reinforces its reputation as a safe and stable state capable of hosting high-profile gatherings.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of NIPR, Malam Haroun Malami, said winning the hosting rights reflected the state’s commitment to professionalism and national progress.
Malami said the event would enable Kaduna showcase its organisational competence and the institute’s role in shaping national dialogue.
He urged members of the inaugurated committees to work with dedication and innovation to ensure a successful conference.
Malami will chair the Conference Planning and General Finance Committee, while Mohammed Abdullahi will lead the Accommodation, Venue and Logistics Committee.
Garba Muhammad, a communications consultant, will head the Media and Publicity Committee; Portia Stephanie Aji will chair the Security Committee; and Prof. Ahmed Sa’id will lead the Panelists and Rapporteurs Committee.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the Niger State Chapter of NIPR, Malam Mahmud Abdullahi, congratulated Kaduna on securing the hosting rights and urged northern states to support the effort.
He said Kaduna’s successful hosting would reflect positively on the entire region.
