The International Centre for Protocol and Diplomacy (ICPD) has wrapped up a two-day capacity-building workshop designed to strengthen the expertise of protocol officers and related professionals in Yobe State.
According to a communiqué released on Tuesday in Kano, the training centred on “Strategic Leadership in Protocol, Diplomacy, Governance, and VIP Management.”
Patricia Kenneth-Divine, Director of ICPD, noted that the workshop featured seasoned facilitators drawn from both local and international institutions.
Participants were taken through sessions on intercultural awareness in protocol, ethical leadership in governance, national and international protocol procedures, and media relations for effective crisis management.
Among the trainers were Agnes Bihari from Hungary, Chief Magistrate Umar Kabir of Katsina, Julius Lambert Nyananyo, and Minabai Seibofa, Chief of Protocol at ShieldField Protocol Consultants.
Ambassador Buhari Balla also delivered specialised insights on diplomacy, protocol practice, and international relations.
The centre stated that the workshop equipped attendees with practical tools to strengthen protocol compliance, ensure ethical conduct, manage high-level engagements, and respond professionally in emergency situations.
Abbas Bizi, Permanent Secretary for Manpower Development in Yobe State, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and essential for improving public service efficiency under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.
ICPD, which has operational hubs in the United Kingdom and partnerships in more than 55 countries, continues to provide training that enhances protocol and diplomatic standards across Nigeria and Africa, offering customised support to governments and corporate institutions navigating diplomatic challenges.
