Governor Fintiri Announces Plans for New NYSC Camp in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Government is set to establish a state-of-the-art permanent NYSC orientation camp, designed to improve training, accommodation, and overall welfare for corps members posted to the state.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri revealed the plan during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch C corps members at the Damare orientation camp in Girei Local Government Area, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to youth development.

Represented by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Fintiri said contractors would soon commence work, with the new facility expected to be completed within six months of construction.

He explained that the camp would meet modern standards, featuring expanded hostel blocks, upgraded lecture halls, and enhanced healthcare centres to ensure corps members receive comprehensive support during their orientation.

Fintiri added that the facility would include improved water supply, reliable electricity, reinforced security measures, and increased accommodation capacity to cater to the growing number of corps members deployed to the state.

The governor highlighted that the project aligns with Adamawa’s broader vision to strengthen youth empowerment, foster national integration, and maintain high living and training standards for corps members throughout their service year.

He assured that the camp would set a benchmark for similar facilities nationwide, urging participants to actively engage in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes aimed at improving employability and promoting long-term economic stability.

Fintiri also stressed that vocational training could enable corps members to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economy through innovation, productivity, and community-based development projects during and after their service.

Adamawa NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline, reported that 1,886 corps members were expected in the state, with 1,060 already registered, and reminded them to uphold loyalty, discipline, patriotism, and respect for authority.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wali Yakubu, encouraged corps members to participate fully in all camp activities, adhere to safety protocols, and strive for excellence, noting that outstanding performance could lead to employment opportunities after service.
