Troops free 86 abducted persons, arrest 29 terror suspects in Borno operations

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully rescued 86 abducted persons and thwarted a terrorist ambush in a series of coordinated operations across Borno State.

The update was shared on Monday by Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for OPHK.

According to Uba, soldiers from the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 engaged Boko Haram and ISWAP elements at Dutse Kura on Sunday while responding to reports of abductions along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.

He explained that the troops pursued the fleeing insurgents toward Mangari, destroying 11 makeshift hideouts and rescuing eight victims, including men, women, and children.

Recovered items from the operation included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines with 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two tricycles used for logistics support.

Additionally, troops stationed in Mangada intercepted 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers heading to the Chilaria area. They were caught with two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with over 1,000 litres of petrol, gun truck tyres, engine oil, food items, and medical supplies.

The Military High Command lauded the troops for their bravery and commitment, urging them to maintain the momentum in the ongoing fight to restrict terrorist activities across the North East region.
