Germany has expressed strong admiration for Nigeria’s sustained efforts in tackling terrorism and promoting regional stability.
During a meeting in Berlin between Germany’s Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, both countries celebrated 65 years of diplomatic relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing security cooperation.
According to a statement by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Senior Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to Minister Tuggar, the two nations renewed their pledge to strengthen ties under the Nigeria–Germany Bi-National Commission framework.
Wadephul lauded Nigeria’s leadership in confronting terrorism, noting that the country remains a vital and dependable ally to the European Union in addressing violent extremism.
He also emphasised Nigeria’s stabilising role in the Lake Chad Basin and its collaboration with regional and international partners in peacebuilding initiatives.
The statement further noted that Germany would continue to assist Nigeria through intelligence sharing, capacity development, and humanitarian support aimed at fostering peace and rebuilding conflict-affected communities.
