Academy Calls for Better Stress Management to Promote Healthy Living

The Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation’s academic arm, COLI Academy, has called on Nigerians to embrace effective stress management practices for improved mental and physical well-being.

Executive Director of the Academy, Rev. Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu, made the call in Enugu at the conclusion of the COLI Academy Basic Stress Management Course, held on Monday.

The course featured facilitators from diverse fields, including medicine, security, business, banking, and media, as well as young mental health advocates and CALMHAF volunteers.

Nwachukwu said the training highlighted the importance of practical stress management in coping with modern life’s social and economic pressures.

He explained that participants were equipped with key tools such as the stress awareness wheel, tracking techniques, the Stress Bucket Technique, relaxation strategies, cognitive restructuring methods, and time management skills.

“These methods help individuals recognise stress triggers, manage pressure effectively, and build healthier routines that enhance productivity and emotional stability,” he said.

Nwachukwu noted that mastering these strategies could significantly improve mental and physical health, foster stronger relationships, and promote overall wellness.

He added that the academy’s accredited certificate also provided participants with professional credibility and career advancement opportunities.

One of the participants, Mr. Okechukwu Etuka, a banker, commended the organisers, saying the training would help him handle workplace demands more calmly and reduce customer-related stress.

Another participant, Ms. Ophilia Alete, a radio presenter, said the programme would help her maintain balance in her lifestyle and work, adding that it had reshaped her approach to communication and managing stress triggers.

Nwachukwu reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to promoting mental health education and empowering Nigerians with tools for stress resilience and healthier living.
