Troops Eliminate Dozens of Terrorists, Arrest 86 in Weeklong Operations — DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that troops of the Armed Forces neutralised several terrorists, apprehended 86 suspects, and rescued 26 kidnapped victims during operations conducted across the country in the past week.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the latest operational successes.

Kangye said the coordinated efforts, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, aimed to strengthen national security, restore stability, and protect key assets across all regions.

He noted that troops recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition, dismantled terrorists’ hideouts, and destroyed illegal refining sites used by criminals.

According to him, the operations were simultaneously executed in the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South, and South-East theatres.

In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI intensified their offensive against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS terrorists in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, killing several insurgents, arresting 13 informants and collaborators, and rescuing three kidnapped victims.

Recovered items included weapons, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, and petroleum products.

In the North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops sustained pressure on terrorists operating in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna States, neutralising many of them, arresting 11 suspects, and rescuing 14 kidnapped persons.

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE in the North-Central region conducted raids in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi States, neutralising extremists, arresting 24 suspects, and freeing three hostages. A separate raid in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, led to the recovery of multiple rifles, ammunition, and explosives from the residence of a wanted extremist, Alhaji Muhammed Sule, also known as MP.

In the Operation WHIRL STROKE area, troops arrested 16 suspects and rescued three victims in Taraba, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi States, and the Federal Capital Territory.

In the South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE troops foiled oil theft worth over ₦13.4 million, seizing 12,350 litres of stolen crude oil, 840 litres of diesel, and 1,350 litres of kerosene. They also destroyed illegal refineries and arrested 10 suspects.

In the South-East, Operation UDO KA forces arrested 12 IPOB/ESN members and rescued three kidnapped victims during raids in Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States.

Kangye reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining the offensive against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats, assuring Nigerians of continued safety and peace.

He commended the troops for their courage and professionalism, urging citizens to support ongoing efforts by providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
