Customs Promises Enhanced Collaboration with Security Agencies in Oyo

The Oyo/Osun Customs Area Command has reaffirmed its commitment to close collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Oyo State.

Akintola Abdulmalik, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, stated on Tuesday that Area Comptroller Gambo Aliyu made the announcement during a courtesy visit to DSS and FRSC offices in Ibadan.

Aliyu highlighted the importance of strengthening existing partnerships between the agencies to enhance national security and operational efficiency.

At the DSS headquarters, the comptroller, accompanied by his management team, commended the service for its dedication to safeguarding lives and protecting property.

He noted that the agency’s efforts continued to contribute significantly to peace, stability, and socio-economic development across the country.

The comptroller also underlined the critical functions of the Nigeria Customs Service in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling initiatives.

He stressed that preventing the movement of illicit drugs and substandard goods plays a key role in reducing insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

During the visit to the FRSC office, Aliyu praised the corps for its consistent enforcement of road safety regulations and public awareness campaigns.

He highlighted that inter-agency cooperation is essential, as no single government body can effectively operate in isolation.

The heads of DSS and FRSC, Mr. Rahim Adelakun and Rosemary Alo, pledged their continued support to deepen the partnership and achieve shared security and safety objectives.
