N3.3bn Released by Jigawa for Next Year’s Hajj Pilgrims

The Jigawa State Executive Council has sanctioned a loan of N3.3 billion to the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to facilitate the purchase of Hajj seats allocated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Mr. Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, disclosed this during a media briefing following the council’s meeting on Tuesday.

Musa explained that the loan reflects the Namadi administration’s commitment to supporting the spiritual and religious needs of the state’s residents.

The funding will cover 400 seats designated for intending pilgrims by NAHCON, ensuring that the state’s allocation is secured in advance.

He added that the move is aimed at preventing delays and ensuring a smooth, well-organized pilgrimage process for participants in 2026.

“The Pilgrims Welfare Board is expected to fully reimburse the loan before the airlift operations begin,” Musa emphasized.

In addition, the council approved N428.4 million for the establishment of 28 palliative shops across the state’s 27 local government areas.

“These new outlets will be strategically placed to improve access to the palliative support program and enhance service delivery to residents,” he said, noting the initiative’s role in promoting equity and community welfare.
