Meetbox Africa, a Nigerian startup, says showcasing at the recently concluded GITEX Nigeria 2025 in Lagos gave the company valuable exposure, fresh insights, and access to potential investors that could influence its future growth.
In an interview, Co-founder of Meetbox Africa, Mr. Kehinde Awoyinfa, described the exhibition as both a springboard and a proving ground for young enterprises seeking to thrive in the digital economy.
“GITEX Nigeria was a classroom and a marketplace rolled into one. We saw startups, investors and global giants all under one roof.
“For us, it was a chance to learn, compete and be noticed,” Awoyinfa said.
He explained that beyond showcasing products, the company held meetings with Microsoft Cloud partners, Internet Service Providers and venture capitalists.
“Some of those conversations may shape how we scale in the coming months,” he added.
Awoyinfa pointed out that Nigerian startups often face hurdles in securing funds and breaking into larger markets.
He added that global expos such as GITEX provide a bridge by connecting local firms with international distributors, policy makers and investors without the burden of overseas travel.
According to him, Meetbox also used the platform to demonstrate its conferencing systems integrated with Microsoft Teams and Zoom, while its branded robot dog, K9 the Ultimate, became a crowd-puller.
“K9 danced, shook hands and guided visitors to our booth. It was our way of standing out in a sea of innovation and sparking conversations about what we do,” he explained.
He stressed, however, that the knowledge exchange from panel discussions and policy sessions was the most impactful aspect, giving startups insights into trends shaping AI, cloud services, fintech, and cybersecurity.
Awoyinfa concluded that such platforms boost the confidence and global visibility of Nigerian innovators, adding that the nation’s position as Africa’s tech hub would be stronger if local startups consistently embraced international-facing opportunities like GITEX.
