In Wakama, Nasarawa State, Labour Party senatorial candidate for the Nasarawa North bye-election, Mr Labaran Maku, has assured voters that he would not disappoint them if given the mandate.
The former Minister of Information made the pledge on Tuesday while addressing members of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), Wakama Branch, during a gathering held in Akpata, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
Maku stated that his ambition was driven by a strong desire to accelerate development across the senatorial district, adding that he would focus on people-oriented projects and empowerment programmes if elected.
He recalled his past roles as commissioner, deputy governor, and minister, noting that he had consistently contributed to employment creation, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment during his public service career.
Expressing appreciation to various groups, stakeholders, women, and youths for their support, he reiterated his commitment ahead of the June 20 election.
He urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers on election day and ensure they protect their votes throughout the process.
Maku also called for continued unity and peaceful coexistence among residents, regardless of political or social differences.
Earlier, the Chairman of the ECDA Wakama Branch, Mr Bala Ewuga, said the meeting was convened to deliberate on issues concerning the development of the community.
