Ganjuwa, Bauchi State, June 16, 2026 — Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to actively contribute to national growth by promoting unity, development, and transformation across their places of service.
The governor made the appeal on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of 1,700 corps members deployed for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I orientation exercise at the NYSC camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Adamu Gabarin, he urged the corps members to take their service year seriously and align with the scheme’s core mission of fostering national cohesion and development.
He encouraged them to begin planning meaningful Community Development Service (CDS) projects early in their service year, noting that such initiatives would positively impact their host communities.
According to him, staying engaged in productive activities would also help corps members avoid misconduct during their orientation and service periods.
The Bauchi State NYSC Coordinator, Umoren Kufre, said the corps members had demonstrated strong participation in camp activities since arrival.
He praised their discipline, patriotism, humility, and commitment, noting that they had adapted well to the structured lifestyle of the orientation camp.
Kufre expressed confidence in their readiness to serve the nation effectively, urging them to maintain discipline and comply with all camp regulations.
He advised them to always use proper channels to address grievances rather than resorting to self-help, while assuring them of the scheme’s commitment to their welfare, safety, and comfort.
He also appreciated the Bauchi State Government for its continued support to the NYSC programme.
The oath of allegiance for the new corps members was administered by Justice Rabi Umar, the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, represented by Abubakar Yerima.
