Troops Repel Bandit Attack, Rescue Two Farmers in Sokoto

Sokoto, June 7, 2026 – Nigerian Army troops under the 8 Division have successfully foiled an attack by armed bandits on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Tidibale village, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

A reliable security source confirmed the development on Sunday, noting that the operation, which occurred on June 4, also led to the rescue of two abducted farmers.

The rescued victims were immediately taken to the General Hospital in Isa for medical attention. The source commended the troops for their swift response, saying it prevented further loss of life and property.

According to the source, security operations in the area have been intensified to strengthen protection of residents, while urging farmers to remain vigilant during their activities.

In a related development, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma also thwarted an attack by Lakurawa terrorists on Magonho community in Tangaza Local Government Area of the state.

The second incident, which occurred on the same day, left one civilian injured by gunfire during the confrontation.

The source praised the rapid response of the troops, which helped to prevent further casualties and limit damage in the community.

He also noted that collaboration among security agencies played a key role in the success of the operations, adding that troops remain committed to tackling criminal activities across the region.

Residents were, however, advised to support ongoing security efforts through timely information sharing and increased community vigilance.
