Prince Laja Adeoye has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election following the party’s primary held in Lagos.
Adeoye, a real estate entrepreneur, secured the party’s ticket through a consensus and affirmation process conducted during the gubernatorial primary election in Yaba.
The exercise was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attended by party stakeholders and delegates from across the state.
Chairman of the APM Governorship Primary Electoral Committee in Lagos, Godwin Williamson, announced Adeoye as the party’s duly elected governorship candidate after delegates and stakeholders from the 20 local government areas endorsed him.
Williamson stated that Adeoye fulfilled all constitutional and procedural requirements stipulated by both the party and the Electoral Act before his emergence as candidate.
In his acceptance speech, Adeoye appreciated leaders of the PDP-APM coalition, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, for their support and encouragement.
He promised to reposition Lagos through inclusive leadership and economic reforms if elected governor in 2027, while urging party members and aspirants to remain united ahead of the general elections.
According to him, the APM represents a movement focused on restoring accountable governance and returning power to the people of Lagos.
Adeoye said residents of the state had endured years of hardship and expressed confidence that the coalition would provide a credible alternative capable of delivering meaningful transformation.
Calling for unity among members of the PDP-APM alliance, he stressed that the focus should now be on building a strong platform capable of challenging for power in the state.
The candidate also unveiled his policy document titled “Àtunto Èkó 1.0: Re-Engineering Lagos for Inclusive Prosperity,” which he described as a comprehensive governance blueprint designed to promote transparency, economic growth and social development.
Adeoye said his agenda would prioritise economic revitalisation, job creation, housing, education, healthcare, security, infrastructure and social inclusion.
He explained that his administration would encourage investment through public-private partnerships and alternative funding strategies aimed at reducing excessive borrowing while stimulating economic growth.
He also pledged support for small and medium-scale enterprises, investments in agribusiness and the expansion of the blue economy to strengthen food security and economic opportunities in Lagos.
According to him, industrial hubs would be developed across the IBILE divisions, while investments in independent power projects would help create hundreds of thousands of jobs for residents.
Adeoye further promised to embark on large-scale affordable housing projects and urban renewal initiatives to ensure more Lagosians have access to decent living conditions.
On healthcare, he pledged to improve access to quality medical services by upgrading primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities across the state.
He maintained that his administration would focus on rebuilding Lagos through people-oriented policies, fairness and transparent leadership.
Adeoye assured residents that he was prepared to serve with dedication, humility and accountability, adding that the party was committed to delivering visible transformation and renewed hope to the people.
