Ibadan — May 27, 2026: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter, has extended its goodwill message to Muslim faithful as they mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The state Chairman of CAN, Rev. Elisha Ogundiya, made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan, where he emphasized the need for continued peace, unity, and cooperation among religious groups in the state.
He encouraged Christians and Muslims to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen peaceful coexistence, noting that collective harmony remains essential for the progress and stability of both Oyo State and Nigeria.
According to him, the shared aspiration for development and security requires all citizens to set aside differences and work together for the common good of society.
Ogundiya also urged Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir period to pray for lasting peace and divine intervention in addressing the country’s security challenges.
He specifically called for prayers for the safe return of students and teachers recently abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as well as others affected by similar incidents across the country.
He noted that the festival symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, faith, and love, drawing inspiration from the example of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), and called on citizens to reflect on these values during the celebration.
Ogundiya further described the season as an opportunity for gratitude and renewed commitment to unity, reminding Nigerians of their shared responsibility as one people under God.
He prayed for God’s blessings upon homes across the nation, asking for peace, joy, and prosperity for all families.
He also prayed for wisdom for national leaders to guide Nigeria toward greater unity, safety, and development, while wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
