Eid-el-Kabir: Zulum Reiterates Commitment to Security, Resettlement of Displaced Persons

In a renewed message of goodwill to Muslims in Borno State on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, the state governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to strengthen security and accelerate the resettlement of persons displaced by insurgency.

In a statement issued in Maiduguri on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor noted that the festive period presents an opportunity for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.

The governor, Babagana Zulum, who is currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, urged Muslims to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim, particularly obedience, patience, and selflessness.

He encouraged residents to use the celebration to deepen acts of charity and support for vulnerable members of society, while promoting unity, love, and tolerance across communities.

Zulum reiterated that his administration remains firmly committed to restoring lasting peace in Borno State, especially in areas that have witnessed the return of displaced residents.

He assured that government will continue to collaborate closely with security agencies, including the military and local volunteer forces, to sustain stability across the state.

According to him, efforts to resettle displaced communities will be intensified, alongside programmes aimed at empowering vulnerable populations to rebuild their livelihoods.

He further disclosed that more communities are expected to be resettled before the end of his administration, with ongoing support initiatives designed to help citizens become self-reliant.

The governor also restated his commitment to completing key developmental projects across the state before the end of his tenure.

Commending the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state, he described the process as orderly and reflective of unity among party members.

He urged residents to continue praying for sustained peace and stability in Borno State and across Nigeria as the nation observes the festive season.
