A business leader, Mr. Idorenyen Enang, has said the Passing-the-Torch (PTT) initiative is designed to strengthen mentorship, promote leadership continuity and support nation-building efforts in Nigeria.
Enang, who also serves as Executive in Residence at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, stated in a release on Monday that the initiative would help close generational gaps across various sectors of the country.
He noted that the programme, developed through his firm Corporate Shepherds Ltd., was part of his effort to contribute meaningfully to society by fostering structured mentorship between experienced professionals and younger leaders.
According to him, the initiative is intentionally focused on connecting established leaders with emerging professionals to ensure the transfer of knowledge, values and institutional experience.
He explained that PTT is aimed at building a sustainable pipeline of ethical and competent leaders while reinforcing a culture of mentorship across different fields.
Enang stressed that leadership continuity cannot be left to chance, adding that deliberate efforts are required to ensure knowledge and values are passed on to future generations.
He said the initiative will be highlighted during a special event marking his 60th birthday in Lagos, which will bring together senior executives, young professionals, mentees, thought leaders, family and associates.
He expressed hope that participants would leave the engagement with a stronger commitment to mentoring others, seeking mentorship, and contributing to institutional growth.
With over 30 years of experience working with global organisations such as Diageo, Coca-Cola, Cadbury, Samsung and L’Oréal, Enang said he has remained committed to leadership development and executive coaching.
He called on other well-meaning individuals to support efforts aimed at driving positive value change among younger generations.
The initiative, according to stakeholders, reflects a growing recognition that leadership development must be intentional, structured and sustained through effective mentorship systems.
The Lagos event is expected to serve as a leadership-focused platform rather than a conventional celebration, featuring discussions, reflections and storytelling aimed at sharing institutional knowledge and strengthening leadership capacity.
It will also include the presentation of a commemorative book titled “60 Navigational Truths,” which captures key lessons from Enang’s leadership journey and philosophy.
