The Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed 581 personnel, patrol vehicles and ambulances across Jigawa State as part of preparations for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
According to a statement issued in Dutse by the corps’ spokesperson, Yahaya Ibrahim, the special operation is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and enhancing road safety during the festive period.
The deployment includes 461 regular officers, 120 special marshals, eight patrol vehicles and four ambulances positioned at strategic locations across the state for monitoring and emergency response.
Ibrahim explained that the operation would run from May 25 to May 31 to manage the expected increase in vehicular and human movement associated with the celebrations.
He noted that the exercise was designed to minimise road crashes, improve compliance with traffic regulations and facilitate easier movement along major highways.
The FRSC spokesperson added that the corps had intensified public awareness campaigns and enforcement activities to encourage responsible driving among motorists and other road users.
According to him, officials would carry out strict enforcement and mobile court operations targeting offences such as speeding, reckless overtaking, dangerous driving, route violations, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving and underage driving.
Other offences to be monitored include failure to use seat belts and child restraints, absence of passenger manifests, operation of unroadworthy vehicles, conveying passengers in trailers and the illegal use of fake number plates.
He urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with officials to ensure a peaceful, orderly and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
The corps also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining uninterrupted traffic movement throughout the festive period.
