DStv has announced plans to provide wider access to this season’s UEFA Champions League Final by making the match available on Open View platforms for football fans across Nigeria.
The broadcaster said the move comes amid heightened excitement among supporters ahead of Arsenal F.C.’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in the final.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos, the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, Mrs Kemi Omotosho, said the Open View access would commence on May 25 for DStv Access subscribers through SuperSport Football Finals and SuperSport Football channels.
She also disclosed that GOtv Plus subscribers would be able to watch the final live on SuperSport Football via GOtv Channel 61.
According to Omotosho, viewers will also enjoy a lineup of classic UEFA Champions League fixtures and memorable encounters involving Arsenal and PSG in the days leading up to the final.
She explained that live studio programming on May 30 would begin at 3:30 p.m., ahead of the scheduled kick-off at 5 p.m.
Omotosho noted that Arsenal’s return to the top of English football has generated massive enthusiasm among Nigerian fans, describing the country as one of the club’s largest supporter bases globally.
She said the company’s decision was aimed at giving more football lovers the opportunity to experience what could become a historic night for the North London club.
Arsenal recently secured the English Premier League title after Manchester City F.C. failed to defeat AFC Bournemouth earlier in the week.
The achievement ended Arsenal’s 22-year wait for a league title and boosted expectations of a possible European triumph this season.
The club will now turn its attention to PSG as it seeks to complete an impressive campaign with UEFA Champions League glory.
DStv further announced that selected English Premier League matches would also be available through Open View access as part of activities marking the football celebrations.
Among the fixtures scheduled are Crystal Palace F.C. versus Arsenal, Manchester City against Aston Villa F.C., and Liverpool F.C. against Brentford F.C..
The lineup will also feature Tottenham Hotspur F.C. taking on Everton F.C..
