The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has paid glowing tribute to elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing him as one of Nigeria’s enduring symbols of wisdom, integrity and moral leadership as he marks his 100th birthday.
In a statement released on Monday by the palace’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare, the monarch praised Fasoranti for what he called a lifetime devoted to sacrifice, courage and service to humanity.
According to the Ooni, the centenarian’s life over the past century has reflected steadfast integrity, selflessness and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of the Yoruba people and national development.
He noted that attaining the age of 100 is a rare milestone that reflects a purposeful existence dedicated to justice, fairness, good governance and the welfare of the people.
The monarch said Fasoranti has consistently spoken out on matters concerning the Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large, maintaining principles that have earned him admiration across political, cultural and religious divides.
He further described the elder statesman as a fearless patriot whose commitment to public service has always taken precedence over personal gain.
The Ooni also commended Fasoranti’s humility, simple lifestyle and fatherly influence on many Nigerians, saying his generation represented honour, sacrifice and genuine concern for humanity.
He added that the Afenifere leader’s legacy continues to serve as a reminder that leadership should be rooted in integrity, service and dedication to the people.
Describing Fasoranti as a unifying figure and a symbol of Yoruba resilience, the monarch said his contributions to nation-building would remain memorable for generations to come.
