The Labour Party (LP) has confirmed former Senator Ishaku Abbo as its governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also presented its candidates for the three senatorial districts, eight House of Representatives seats, and 25 constituencies in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The affirmation exercise took place on Sunday in Yola during the party’s primary election and candidate selection process.
Chairman of the Labour Party Primary Election Committee, Sam Ochiama, said the process was conducted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
He explained that aspirants who ran unopposed were endorsed through voice votes by delegates and other stakeholders.
Ochiama announced Emmanuel Musa as the party’s candidate for Adamawa Central Senatorial District, noting that he emerged as the sole aspirant and received unanimous support during the affirmation.
He also named Peter Fwa as the candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial District and Dawuda Mohammed as the flag bearer for Adamawa North.
According to him, the party has also concluded arrangements for candidates in all eight House of Representatives constituencies in the state.
He further disclosed that 25 candidates were selected to contest seats in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
Ochiama expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections, urging members to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
He called for continued cooperation among party members to strengthen the Labour Party’s chances across all levels of the elections.
