Two individuals have been brought before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Okitipupa, Ondo State, over allegations of burglary and theft.
The accused persons, 26-year-old Ebun Oladunjoye, a plumber, and 24-year-old Gbenga Mandella, a painter, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary, and stealing. Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
Prosecuting officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the incident occurred on January 2 at No. 55 Ayegbabami Street, Okitipupa.
He alleged that the defendants broke into the residence of Orimisan Netufo and made away with an Itel A70 Android phone valued at ₦150,000. He further stated that the suspects were later arrested after police investigation linked them to the crime.
The charges were said to contravene Sections 383, 390(9), and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
Chief Magistrate Mayowa Olanipekun granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦250,000, with one surety in like amount. The court also ruled that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of at least two years’ tax clearance.
The case was adjourned until April 28 for further hearing.
