Police Detain Three, Recover Firearms and Hard Drugs in Enugu

The Nigeria Police Force in Enugu State has detained three male suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and suspected hard drugs from them.

The command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Enugu.

According to him, on Jan. 19, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, detained Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, in the Awkunanaw axis of Enugu South Local Government Area.

Ndukwe said the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the head and executioner of the group in Enugu South LGA as of December 2025.

Items recovered from them include one pump-action gun, a locally fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one HP laptop and a motorcycle.

In a related development on Jan. 31, police operatives raided criminal hideouts in the Agbani axis of the state, detaining eight suspects.

“Following screening, one suspect, Monday Ezeani, 32, was found in possession of dried substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as ‘Mkpuru-mmiri,’ while the remaining suspects were released after preliminary investigation,” Ndukwe said.

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Giwa, has reassured residents of the command’s firm resolve to protect lives and property.

The commissioner also warned individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism and illicit drug activities to repent or face the full weight of the law.
