Katsina SUBEB Chairman Disburses N18m to 727 Indigent Residents Ahead of Ramadan

The Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Kabir Abdullahi-Gafia, has disbursed N18 million to no fewer than 727 indigent residents of Kaita Local Government Area (LGA) to ease economic hardship ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan fast.

The empowerment exercise was held on Sunday in Kaita town, the headquarters of Kaita LGA.

Speaking at the event, Governor Dikko Radda, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, commended the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.

According to the governor, the support would go a long way in cushioning the economic hardship faced by beneficiaries, especially as Ramadan approaches.

He urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the funds and extend support to others within their communities.

“By supporting people around you, this empowerment provided to you will benefit you more than you think. Therefore, you are also expected to remember those around you,” he said.

Radda added that the initiative would complement his administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure the wellbeing of citizens through various empowerment programmes.

Earlier, Abdullahi-Gafia said the disbursement was aimed at complementing the governor’s commitment to supporting the less privileged.

He expressed hope that the beneficiaries would judiciously utilise the funds during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to him, the beneficiaries include less privileged individuals, persons with special needs, traditional and religious leaders, youths, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and other stakeholders.

He added that the initiative forms part of his sustained efforts to give back to the people for their support to the present administration during the 2023 elections.
