Army Intensifies Nationwide Operations, Destroys Terrorist Camps, Rescues Kidnap Victims

The Nigerian Army has sustained coordinated offensive operations across the country over the last 24 hours, resulting in the neutralisation of terrorists, destruction of criminal camps and rescue of abducted victims in multiple operational areas.

A senior military source disclosed that troops of the 1 Brigade, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded to credible intelligence at Gidan Baushe village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where a civilian who sustained gunshot wounds was rescued and evacuated for medical care.

The source added that soldiers of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team launched a dawn assault on terrorist hideouts within the Sububu Forest, following the identification of active motorcycle routes used by criminal elements.

During the operation, several terrorist camps and logistics structures were destroyed. Troops fought through an ambush, dominated the general area and recovered military items including a ballistic helmet, combat boots, woodland camouflage uniforms and two Baofeng communication radios.

In Kogi State, under Operation MESA, troops of 12 Brigade rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas.

One terrorist was neutralised during a firefight, while injured victims are reportedly responding to treatment. The source noted that sustained ground and air pressure forced the terrorists to abandon some captives.

In Kwara State, troops of 22 Brigade, in collaboration with personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), raided a notorious terrorist enclave in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The operation led to the discovery and destruction of terrorist camps, a motorcycle and large quantities of food supplies believed to have been stockpiled for criminal activities.

Meanwhile, troops of 32 Brigade responded to terrorist attacks on Eleyowo and Ilu Abo communities in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, where two houses were attacked and three civilians lost their lives.

Troops pursued the fleeing attackers, while injured victims were evacuated by community members and local support groups. Security forces have since intensified dominance operations in the affected areas.

In Benue State, troops operating under Operation Whirl Stroke laid an ambush along the Naka–Ahume–Makurdi road in Gwer West Local Government Area, neutralising two terrorists.

Items recovered during the operation included an AK-47 rifle, a magazine and ammunition, which are currently in military custody for further investigation.

The military source reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains resolute in denying terrorists freedom of action and will continue sustained operations to safeguard lives and property across the country.
