The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Command, on Friday decorated 162 newly promoted senior officers with their new ranks in Makurdi.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony, the State Commandant, Mrs Larai Bitrus, congratulated the officers and thanked God for their success in the promotion examinations.
Bitrus said the ceremony was not only a recognition of their hard work, dedication and commitment to duty, but also a demonstration of the confidence reposed in them by the Corps to lead with integrity.
She reminded the officers that their elevation came with increased responsibilities, professionalism and efficiency, stressing that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
“Your promotion is a recognition of your expertise, leadership and tireless efforts in maintaining peace and order in Benue State.
“I urge you to see this elevation as a call to greater responsibility, integrity and service to humanity,” she said.
The commandant reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the state.
She assured residents that the Corps would continue to safeguard schools and host communities, while also providing security for farmers and agro-allied investments.
Bitrus further pledged that the command would ensure mining activities in the state complied with global best practices.
She commended sister security agencies for their collaboration, noting that sustained synergy remained vital in addressing insecurity and ensuring public safety.
In his remarks, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ifeanyi Emenari, urged the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, adding that future promotions would depend on discipline, dedication and sustained hard work.
the officers were promoted to the ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Corps and Deputy Superintendent of Corps.
