Seplat Energy Appoints Saidu Mohammed, Larry Ettah as Independent Directors

The Board of Seplat Energy has confirmed the appointment of Mr Saidu Mohammed and Mr Larry Ettah as Independent Non-Executive Directors, effective from Jan. 1, 2026.

Their appointments follow the resignation of Mr Bello Rabiu and Mr Babs Omotowa in April 2025 after their appointment to the Board of NNPC Ltd.

The company said the recruitment process was carried out in line with its Board succession plan to ensure continuity, strong corporate governance and effective strategic oversight.

Mohammed is a seasoned energy executive with over 37 years of experience across Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, with particular expertise in natural gas development and infrastructure. He previously served as Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power, at NNPC, where he provided leadership for major gas projects and policy frameworks.

His contributions include the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code and inputs into the Petroleum Industry Act, which strengthened Nigeria’s gas commercialisation agenda.

Ettah is a respected business leader with nearly four decades of corporate experience across manufacturing, logistics, food and consumer sectors. He spent 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, rising from management trainee to Group Chief Executive Officer, a position he held from 2007 to 2018.

As CEO, Ettah restructured UACN’s portfolio through global partnerships and led key acquisitions, including Livestock Feeds Plc and Portland Paints Plc.

Ettah holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry, an MBA, and executive education from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, INSEAD, IMD and the University of Michigan.

Commenting on the appointments, Seplat Energy Chairman, Mr Udoma Udo Udoma, said the board was pleased to welcome Mohammed and Ettah.

“Their complementary experience combines deep industry knowledge with proven business leadership, and we look forward to their contributions to Seplat’s strategic growth,” Udoma said.
