NiDCC empowers five indigenous entrepreneurs through training, mentorship and funding

The Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (NiDCC) has partnered with five indigenous entrepreneurs to provide structured training, mentorship, and financial support, the chamber announced on Tuesday at its maiden Business Summit in Lagos.

The summit, held under the theme “The People, The Business and the Future of Emerging Markets”, marked the official launch of what will now be an annual event.

The Chief Executive Officer of NiDCC, Mrs Patience Ndidi Key, said the entrepreneurs were selected through a pitching session and would receive support aimed at strengthening their business ideas and ensuring long-term sustainability.

“Our intervention will focus on capacity building, access to funding, and structured mentorship. Some beneficiaries will also receive training in communication skills and effective business presentation,” Key explained.

She added, “NiDCC plans to provide leadership training, skills development, technology support, and global exposure for beneficiaries. We will be using the money of the rich to better the lives of the poor.”

Key highlighted that limited funding and poor access to enabling business environments were major barriers to growth for Nigerian entrepreneurs. She emphasized that engaging directly with local businesses was vital for national development.

“The willingness of these entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses despite limited resources motivated this initiative,” she said, describing the partnership as a dream come true that would positively impact future generations.

Olawale Atoyebi, founder of Bordawave Ltd., one of the beneficiaries, thanked NiDCC for the opportunity and pledged to maximise the support. Other beneficiaries include Williams Otito-Daniels, Esther Iniebong, and Jumoke Akin-Taylor.

Akin-Taylor, a construction expert, urged fellow entrepreneurs to uphold integrity, avoid unhealthy competition, and seek ways to complement one another, stressing the importance of collaborative growth.

The initiative aligns with NiDCC’s strategy to build sustainable businesses, strengthen the economy, and improve livelihoods across Nigeria and Africa.
