A 46-year-old man, Adesola Adedeji, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over an alleged N3 million visa fraud.
Adedeji, whose address was not disclosed, was charged with stealing and obtaining money under false pretence. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 4:00 p.m. on January 25 at Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. He alleged that Adedeji obtained the sum of N3 million from the complainant, Damilola Ademola, under the pretext of securing a Luxembourg visa for her.
Lawal said the defendant failed to procure the visa and allegedly converted the money to his personal use. He noted that the offence contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with one reliable surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until February 2, 2026, for hearing.
