DSP Gbenga Afolayan has officially assumed duty as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Zone 2 Command, Lagos.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Deputy PPRO, DSP Raphael Olowe, following a recent posting and redeployment of PPROs by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun.
Afolayan, a native of Ijero Ekiti Local Government Area in Ekiti State, joined the Nigeria Police Force on December 20, 2018, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police under Regular Course 1.
He received his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
Throughout his career, Afolayan has attended professional courses including the Combat Operation Course at the Police Mobile Force Training School, Ila Orangun, Osun State, and the Operational Leadership and Command Course (OLCC) at the Police Staff College in Jos.
He has also served in several capacities, including Personal Assistant to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police at Zone 17 Headquarters and to the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State.
Prior to this appointment, he was serving at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Olowe called on the public, media practitioners, and residents of Lagos and Ogun states to extend their support and cooperation to the new PPRO.
