Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has said that President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are laying a solid foundation for a “new Nigeria,” anchored on stability, inclusion and shared prosperity.
Abiodun made the remark on Monday in Abeokuta after reading the ninth lesson at the 2025 Christmas carol organised by the Ogun State Government.
He said the President’s policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda were already contributing to economic stability and inclusive growth across the country.
According to him, the reforms have begun to positively lift the nation’s economy, urging Nigerians to continue to support the President’s efforts.
The governor called for unity, compassion and shared prosperity as key ingredients for building a brighter future for both Ogun State and Nigeria.
Abiodun said Christmas was a season of good tidings and great joy, even in the face of prevailing global and national challenges.
“The season is more than a date; it reminds us of God’s unfading love and calls us to care for the needy and comfort the lonely,” he said.
He urged worshippers to extend Christ-like love through acts of kindness, particularly to the less privileged.
The governor also highlighted Ogun State’s long-standing reputation for religious tolerance and social harmony, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to ensure a safe and joyful festive season.
Earlier, Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church delivered a sermon titled ‘The Best Gift Ever’, saying that Jesus Christ brought good news to humanity.
Bakare said Christmas remained the greatest gift one could receive, urging Christians to reflect Christ’s teachings in their schools, workplaces and communities.
“After celebrating Christ’s birth, we must return to our schools and communities to do the things He did,” he said.
Dignitaries at the event included former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba, Sen. Solomon Adeola and several traditional rulers.
