Radda Hails Remi Tinubu for Empowering 100,000 Nigerians, Disburses Grants to PWDs in Katsina

The wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, has praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for empowering more than 100,000 citizens through various economic support programmes over the past two years.

Radda gave the commendation on Wednesday during the disbursement of ₦50,000 each to 250 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Katsina, an event held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The empowerment initiative, tagged “Economic Empowerment for PWDs,” is part of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) under the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme.

Delivering Sen. Tinubu’s message, the governor’s wife said the intervention for persons with disabilities reflects President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises inclusive development and equal opportunities.

She noted that the initiative has, in the last two years, extended financial support to more than 100,000 women, petty traders, small business owners and persons with disabilities across the country to help them expand their economic activities.

According to her, the RHI will provide ₦200,000 business recapitalisation grants to 250 persons with disabilities in every state, including the Federal Capital Territory, to help strengthen small and existing businesses.

Radda added that each state, the FCT, as well as the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Associations, will receive ₦50 million for onward distribution to beneficiaries within their jurisdictions.

“In total, 9,500 persons with disabilities nationwide will benefit from this phase of the programme, with an overall financial commitment of about ₦1.9 billion,” she said.
