Borno leads as INEC online pre-registration hits 7.4m

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a total of 7,415,760 online pre-registrations in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), with Borno State leading with 783,546 registrants.

The registration exercise, which commenced on August 18, continues to progress steadily. As of October 12, a total of 1,502,733 Nigerians have successfully completed both online and physical registration during the seventh week of the exercise.

Among the online pre-registrations, 3,877,330 (52.28%) were female, while 3,538,430 (47.72%) were male. Youths aged 18 to 34 made up 5,095,056 of the total registrants, with 1,873,848 identified as students and 168,680 as Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

State-wise, Borno leads with 783,546 online pre-registrants, followed by Osun with 632,751; Lagos with 590,341; Kebbi with 557,778; and Kaduna with 471,375.

For the completed registrations during week seven (October 6 to 10), 1,502,733 individuals finalized their registration forms, with 878,715 completing online registration and 674,018 through physical registration centers. Females accounted for 828,563 (55.14%) of completed registrations, while males made up 674,170 (44.86%).

Students constituted the largest occupational group with 507,097 registrants (33.74%), followed by business owners at 279,384 (18.59%) and housewives at 223,903 (14.90%). Additionally, 21,244 PWDs (1.41%) successfully completed their registration during this period.

Lagos State recorded the highest number of completed registrations in week seven with 78,128, followed by Kano State with 82,703, and Oyo State with 43,165.

INEC has reminded the public that all forms of registration, both online pre-registration and physical, are suspended in Anambra State until after the Governorship Election scheduled for November 8.
